Industry news - Feed In Tariffs in NSW and SA

SA's feed-in tariff increased for residental system owners

The South Australian Government announcement that households with solar panels will receive an extra 10 cents per kilowatt-hour for excess electricity they return to the grid.under the State's proposed feed-in tariff change. Read more... to find out what it means for you.

NSW Solar Bonus Scheme under review

Who will be affected by this review?  Anyone who is not an existing customer.  “If changes to the legislation are put to the Parliament, the Government would propose that an 'existing customer' is one who has purchased (or entered into an agreement that could result in a financial loss if terminated) an eligible generator and applied to connect it to the grid before the date changes to the legislation are enacted. Customers may be asked to provide proof of purchase.”

Whilst this is not definitive the tariff will change, and the said change is only proposed, it does send a message to anyone looking to purchase a home solar system to do so now to ensure you are eligible.  order your FREE Solar Home Consultation now. For more FAQs on this review click here

Lessons learned from one of our solar customers

Ann, a Solar Shop Customer purchased a 2.25kw system two years ago

Ann was accustomed to receiving over $100 of credit on every quarterly electricity bill since her system was installed. Then for six months, Ann had a friend stay at her home.

Ann said, "I just couldn't get her to 'understand' air-conditioning".  " I said she could turn on the air conditioning any time and I showed her how the system worked. I have a four zone system and I suggested that if she wanted to 'nap' during the day she should set the system to deliver cool air to her bedroom only and make sure her windows were closed so we didn't cool the neighbourhood."

Unfortuately this didnt happen and Ann's power bill shot up to $400.

The moral of this story is that even though solar power brings you free energy from the sun, you still need to use your energy efficiently to maximise the benefits.

Sleek black solar panels - we test their performance!

Alt

Before we introduce new products to the range, we like to test them ourselves where possible. So we installed a 6kW solar power system at our Head Office in Adelaide, SA.  It uses the latest Solar Frontier panels and SMA inverters.  The system has been operational for just over 6 months and is performing above specification.
