Sustainable House Day 2010

Solar Shop Australia is proud to announce that it will be the Presenting Partner of Sustainable House Day 2010.

The ninth annual Sustainable House Day, on Sunday 12 September, will showcase Australia’s most environmentally sustainable homes to the public as millions of Australians continue to embrace renewable energy, recycling and other practices designed to lessen our impact on the environment.

After a record 180 homes opened in 2009, Sustainable House Day organisers are calling for even more participants to open their homes this year to help share the sustainable message and help continue make the event a success.

As the proud Presenting Partner of Sustainable House Day, Solar Shop Australia would love to see many solar power systems on show so we can show the public how empowering it is to have your very own clean power source.

Owning a Solar Power System is unlikely to impact most Aged Pensions

Recent reports have suggested that pensioners who own solar power systems will have their pensions cut as a result of the credits/income that they earn from their system.

While in a small number of cases this may be true, it is very unlikely that the majority of current and potential solar power system owners will be affected. This is based on the average system installed either eliminatesing an electricity bill or returning a small income annually. Read more...

Earth Hour Competition Winner

Congratulations to Peter Murray of Moana, SA who was the lucky winner of this year’s Earth Hour solar power prize sponsored by Solar Shop Australia. Peter was one of tens of thousands of Australians who participated in Earth Hour 2010 and was excited to be receiving a prize that will help him to reduce his impact on the environment long into the future.
